Chris O'Brien is a Canadian born Composer residing in Southern California. For over twenty five years, Chris has been writing and producing music for some of television’s most enduring shows. His music receives repeated airplay on ABC, CBS, NBC, E!, CW, IFC, PBS, Discovery, History, Food Network, MTV as well as international television, film and radio.
Chris’ notable original music sync placements include the blockbuster movies White Men Can’t Jump (2023) and Tropic Thunder (Dreamworks) along with television staples Anthony Bourdain - Parts Unknown (CNN) and Expedition Unknown (Travel Channel).
Over his long career, Chris has worked live and in studio, collaborating, drumming and programming for several international artists, musicians and producers including: Michael Jackson, TJ Jackson, Lionel Richie, Barry Manilow, Michael W. Chris recently released a drums only album 'Cue The Drums' for KPM (formerly EMI Production Music UK), distributed in the USA and Canada by APM. In 2009, Chris was the Drummer in the house band on The Learning Channel TV series 'The Singing Office' with hosts Mel B (Spice Girls, America’s Got Talent) and Joe Fatone (NSync, My Big Fat Greek Wedding). in 2002, Chris produced and performed on the award winning drumloop library ‘Stark Raving Beats’. Around the same time Chris also recorded and toured with Los Angeles indie pop bands THE SMART SET and THE LIFT. Chris spent the late 90’s providing in-studio keyboard and drum tech services for Steve Ferrone and Greg Phillinganes. In 1988 Chris was awarded 'Most Promising Producer' from legendary producer Jack Richardson at Canada’s acclaimed Music Industry Arts program at Fanshawe, London, Ontario.
Chris composes and produces instrumental rock music under the artist name OB6, available on all streaming and download platforms as well as preferred artist outlet Bandcamp.
